Improving services for children and young people

As a Father of two young sons, I want young people in Suffolk to get access to a great education. I will work with Suffolk County Council to get a better funding deal from the Department for Education, and make sure we invest in our SEND offer. I also want children in Suffolk to benefit from more time outside, more exercise and more extracurricular activities.

Visit to Claydon High School

Thank you to Claydon High School for the warm welcome! I met with Head Teacher, Mark Ismay to discuss their positive progress and ethos at the school.  The highlight was meeting Year 8 and Year 11 students and taking part in a Q&A session with them.

Visit to Claydon Primary School

A happy way to start Friday with a visit to Claydon Primary School! It was fantastic to meet students across all year groups and have a tour of the school from Deputy Head Vici Morris. During my visit I received an update on school preparedness and challenges around SEND provision.

Department for Education questions

Telling teachers to stop teaching times tables would have a huge and negative impact on children across #Suffolk. Today I asked the Secretary of State for Education to rule out any plans this Government has to take times tables off the national curriculum.
