In April 2013, The George pub in Wickham Market was devastated by a terrible fire. Now, just over 10 years later, it is set to reopen its doors thanks to the incredible efforts of the local community, who raised an astonishing £2.5 million to bring it back to life.
This time, The George will operate as a community-owned pub, offering not only a place to gather but also space for community groups and classes. It promises to be an incredible asset for the village and a shining example of what can be achieved when a community comes together. Congratulations to everyone involved in this remarkable project!
