Thank you to everyone who joined me at the Castle Hill Community Centre on Friday, 10th January, to discuss GP access and broader healthcare concerns in North Ipswich. Your input is invaluable, and I want to reassure you that improving healthcare services remains my absolute priority.
Since the closure of the Claydon and Barham surgeries in 2021 and the cancellation of the Tooks Bakery redevelopment as a "super surgery," I fully understand the frustration and challenges faced by residents.
To tackle these issues:
- I’ve been in regular discussions with NHS Suffolk and North East Essex ICB, including a recent meeting with Dr Ed Garratt to push for better infrastructure at Cardinal Medical Practice.
- I’ve met with Health Minister Stephen Kinnock MP to stress the need for new facilities, especially given the rising demand from significant housebuilding in our area.
- I’ve engaged directly with the Cardinal Medical Practice team, who are strongly committed to delivering improved and expanded services.
I’m optimistic that through these ongoing efforts, we will see tangible progress in delivering the new surgery that North Ipswich so desperately needs.
