Last week in the House of Commons I raised the issue of Suffolk landowners, who live by a river, wanting to take steps to mitigate flooding through upkeep of the river and flood plain, but being unable to because they need a Flood Risk Activity Permit, also known as FRAPs (which are very expensive and arduous to apply for). The Minister of Flooding agreed to look at the issue, and so this week my team have written to her to propose changes to rules and regulations around FRAPs. Hopefully we will hear back soon and make progress on this straight forward issue.
