The legacy of Storm Babet is still affecting residents across Central Suffolk and North Ipswich. Yesterday in Parliament I attended a drop-in hosted by the Environment Agency and Flood Re to discuss measures for better flood resilience, and the impact of the Build Back Better scheme which provides advice and support to residents who require necessary improvement works to their homes to protect against flooding.
The drop-in also provided advice on Flood Re, the public body and not for profit fund that is owned, managed and subsidised by levy contributions from all insurers who offer home insurance as a way to ensure that households prone to flooding can access affordable flood insurance.
